A work in progress

Carrie Valenzuela is a Chicanx artist, printer and hand bookbinder who created Amaranth Press and Bindery in 2001. She/they are a community activist establishing justice and inclusion in her work as a teaching artist in Syracuse, New York. Trained in a range of bookbinding methods and production letterpress work, Valenzuela constructs unique books and ephemera and also leads workshops in bookmaking and letterpress printing under the new imprint of Salt City Book Arts. Carrie serves the American Printing History Association as President of the Upstate New York Chapter as well as part of the national committees of Diversity and Inclusion Liaison and Membership. Carrie seeks to bring forth the visuals for a range of artists and organizations of historically underrepresented populations.
